Please note:
Wolf
's availability for adoption has been placed on Hold.

Wolf
is truly an amazing boy. He is doing great, and has no problems

running and playing, but he does have very specialized, physical long term care and needs. The majority of a dog's weight is supported by the front legs.
Wolf
is now undergoing physical therapy, including hydrotherapy, to strengthen his extremities and improve his balance. The balance exercises teach him to walk in a different way, shifting his weight and limiting the stress on his front leg. This extensive rehab will likely be a long-term situation for him.
Wolf
has endured a lot and the priority of our rescue group is to do everything possible to maintain his good health and hopefully prevent future injuries to his remaining front leg.

Adorable, affectionate, amazing, athletic, awesome, best friend, buddy, calming, companion, cuddler, determined, fantastic, funny, gentle, handsome, happy, hugger, incredible, loyal, lovable, outgoing, personality plus, playful, protective, rockstar, smiling, silly, smart, snuggler, special, strong, survivor, sweet, talkative, therapeutic, wants to please, wonderful…..Meet WOLF!!

It’s truly amazing that Wolf has turned out to be such a great dog after what he has endured.  His owner ran over his front (left) leg, breaking all bones in his foot and lower leg, and never took him to a veterinarian; instead, he was allowed to suffer in what must have been horrific pain for several weeks. The bones had fused in the wrong positions and he had to drag his useless foot/leg when he walked, resulting in calluses and open wounds.  Finally, when the owner realized Wolf’s condition was not going to improve, he was dumped at a kill shelter.

Wolf’s sweet nature impressed the shelter staff and volunteers and they reached out to try to get him saved.  SSRR took Wolf into rescue and immediately sought vet care; unfortunately his leg was too damaged to be saved and had to be amputated.

Wolf has made a great recovery.  He lives in a foster home with four other Rottweilers and LOVES to run and play.  He is always happy and everyone who meets him falls in love with him. It is our hope that Wolf will be adopted by someone who could have him trained to become an animal assisted therapy dog…. going to nursing homes and hospitals (especially hospitals for children as well as veterans); and/or, serving as a companion for a veteran.  Wolf would definitely brighten anyone’s day!

Wolf is missing a leg, but he does not consider himself handicapped and neither should you….If you are looking for a truly special companion, this awesome guy exemplifies the statement “Who Rescued Who?”
